The G. Harvey Studio Collection Certification began shortly after G. Harvey’s daughter and son-in-law established Whistle Pik Galleries in 1995. The initial purpose of the Collection was to establish a way of identifying which G. Harvey products were sold directly from his personal studio and his immediate family’s Collections through Whistle Pik Galleries. As part of G. Harvey’s agreement with the publishing houses that produced his graphics, he retained a subset of the Artist Proofs, Press Proofs, and, in some cases, some of the signed and numbered editions as part of his royalty each time an original painting was published. These personal editions is what became “The Authentic Certification of the G. Harvey Studio Collection” and the seal was embossed on the certificates.
Over time, Tim and Pamela Taylor, the owners of Whistle Pik Gallery, slowly began to emboss all Certificates of Authenticity for Original paintings, sketches, bronze sculptures, and G. Harvey graphics that were sold by Whistle Pik Galleries. After Whistle Pik Galleries sold the physical retail space in 2017, the Studio Collection Certification was applied to all appraisals, authentication certificates, and graphics sold from that date forward. Tim Taylor still provides certificates of authentication because has a very thorough catalog of most of the art that G. Harvey produced from 1957 through 2015. Many of the older paintings have no photograph, but the records that G. Harvey left behind is fairly accurate and most works of art completed after 1975 are thoroughly documented complete with photographs, original price, and gallery or auction where the piece was sold originally.
